Minnesota and Iowa Kids are on the Hunt for Rainbows
My friend filled me in on this fun group over on Facebook that is all about bringing smiles to everyone while we are practicing social distancing. It's fun and super easy and everyone can be part of this hunt.
The group on Facebook is called "Rainbow Hunts for Kids" and this is what it is all about:
During this time of social distancing many of us are struggling to find an activity to do with our kids. This will be a great way to have a creative time. Each week I will post something for your family to create and post in your window. Then, later in the week, you can take walks or drive around town and document what you find If you have been told to Shelter In Place, please follow that directive! Use what is safe for your family. We want you here and participating however you can. Feel free to post pictures of what you find. This becomes a 3 part lesson, something creative, something active, and something on how things spread on social media. - Rainbow Hunts for Kids Facebook Page
If you are ready to bring a few smiles to some faces and get creative with your kids, here's how it works:
- Every week, a new activity to create will be added, but go ahead and start with a rainbow! Create a colorful rainbow and put it up in your window for the world to see as they drive or walk by.
- Now it's your turn to go on the hunt! Take a walk or drive around town and look for other rainbows. If you see one, take a photo but try to leave house numbers out of the frame. Post on your social media pages with #RainbowHuntsForKids. You can join the group on Facebook too and add the photos there.
- To add to the fun, send the photos to us on the Y-105FM app and we will share our favorites too. You can send us photos and messages at www.y105fm.com/app
Are you looking for more activities to do with your kids? I've got a daily challenge over on my Facebook page (Jessica On The Radio). It all started because my kids decided to burst into one of my conference calls for work on day 1 of our coronavirus staycation. If you've got ideas for me, I'm only semi-creative so I'd love some help! Send me a message to my Facebook page (Jessica On The Radio). or DM me on Instagram.
