Maybe 'cabin' isn't the right word. If you're paying over $8 million dollars for a lakeside dwelling here in Minnesota, it's more like a mansion, not a cabin. And, yeah, everything about it is expensive-- including the taxes.

According to this story in on TwinCities.com, the property in question was once owned by Twin Cities car dealer, Denny Hecker. He sold the property during bankruptcy proceedings a few years ago.

But back to the mansion. It's located northwest of the Twin Cities, near Brainerd-- which is about a 4 and a half-hour drive from Rochester. It sits on Cross Lake's Echo Bay, with multiple houses and 800 feet of lakeshore on 5.6 acres. The main mansion itself is 11,438 square feet.

The story describes the main mansion's amenities like this: It includes a "stone fireplace and glass-walled view of a wraparound deck and Cross Lake. To the right, a billiard table and racked cues open into Hecker’s office with a gleaming wood ceiling that resembles a polished boat deck.

Just down a hallway, an in-house movie theater provides a 10-foot view screen, stadium seating with mood lighting, popcorn machine and easy chairs.

Upstairs an open walkway connects the two bedroom wings. A guest, or mother-in-law suite, is at one end. A chairlift links to the garage below. The guest suite is basically another house with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath."

And that's just the main mansion. The story says you also get several garages, outbuildings and more. When it was last for sale, it was listed for the low, low price of $8.5 million-- which would make your payment about $42,000 a month. And, yeah, property taxes on it were $59,980 a year the story noted. That's SOME 'cabin', alright!
