St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The daily count of new COVID-19 cases in Minnesota remained below 1000 on Wednesday.

The Minnesota Department of Health today reported 669 new COVID-19 cases statewide. 36 of the new infections were found in Olmsted County.

24 additional coronavirus related deaths were reported throughout the state. One of them involved an Olmsted County resident in their 90s.

The daily testing total reported today by the state health department was about 17,200. The daily testing positivity rate was about four percent.

State officials also reported another drop in COVID-19 hospitalizations. There are currently 377 Minnesotans hospitalized due to the new viral illness with 77 of the patients requiring treatment in intensive care units. The ICU bed total is the lowest reported since the end of August.
