Owning a home here in Minnesota means there’s always something that needs fixing, replacing, tightening, or, if you’re like me, just ignoring for another six months. But when researchers looked at the home repairs Minnesotans search for most, the winner was a surprisingly simple chore that can turn into a much bigger headache pretty quickly..

Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but it could also be known as the land of 2.4 million homes. A recent Minnesota Compass survey says there are just under 2.5 million homes that are inhabited right now in the North Star State.
And, according to Bankrate.com, Minnesota is one of the top ten states in the country when it comes to homeownership rates. In fact, the Bold North ranks 8th on that list, with 75.1 percent of Minnesotans owning their own home. That's well over the national rate of just over 65 percent.

What Home Repairs Are Most Common Across the U.S.?
The crew at Roto-Rooter conducted a survey to find out which home repair Minnesotans tackle most. Roto-Rooter surveyed 1,000 homeowners to uncover the biggest home repair struggles. Specifically, they looked at Google Trends data across 20 common home repair terms to determine the top-searched repair in every U.S. state.

Roto-Rooter found that faucet repair was the top-searched home repair over the past two decades. Eleven different states, including Iowa and Wisconsin, listed repairing leaky faucets as the most common home repair.

In second place, a leaky, overflowing, or improperly running toilet came in as the second-most common home repair, noted in 8 different states. In addition to those, there were a couple of other unique standouts, like termite damage repair topping the list in Hawaii, or foundation repair in Texas.
But none of those repairs was the most common here in Minnesota.
Here in the Gopher State, fixing a broken window is the most common home repair Minnesotans are tasked with doing. That fun chore was also the most common home repair in Illinois, California, Nevada, and Oregon as well. Not that repairing or replacing a window is fun, mind you, because it certainly isn't.
