Willmar, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minnesota man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun at Willmar Police.

According to a news release from the Willmar Police Department, a Willmar Police Officer conducted a routine traffic stop on Saturday night just after 8:30 pm. As the vehicle stopped, a passenger exited the vehicle and allegedly fired one shot at Willmar Police. The officer was unharmed and requested backup.

The suspect ran into a neighborhood, where police used drones and a Minnesota State Patrol aircraft to search for the suspect. Officers were able to locate the suspect in an unattached garage by using a remote robotic camera. The suspect refused to comply with officers and SWAT teams utilized tear gas and a vehicle-mounted ram to take the suspect into custody at roughly 2:30 am.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Esteban Ramos Jr. Ramos was suffering from various self-inflicted injuries and was transported to Carris Hospital by ambulance. The suspect was treated at the hospital and released on Sunday. He is currently being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
