Have You Heard of Westopolis, Minnesota?
It's not on the official maps just yet, but a brand new name for a familiar place has just been announced here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Geographically speaking, Minnesota is a pretty big state, stretching out over 86,943 square miles from border to border. The North Star State is divided into 87 counties and 853 cities, with the largest being Minneapolis (with a population of 432,250) to the tiny town of Funkely (with a population of 12.)

That's right, Westopolis. You'll find Westopolis in the Twin Cities metro just west of Minneapolis. It was created by combining the marketing forces of Golden Valley and St. Louis Park, which both sit near each other along Interstate 394.
Okay, hold up. Westopolis is not *exactly* a brand-new city. Both the cities of Golden Valley and St. Louis Park will still be keeping their familiar names and municipal borders. But Westopolis *is* officially the new name the two cities have taken as they join forces to attract more visitors to the region.
Westopolis is actually the creation and new name of Discover St. Louis Park, the destination marketing organization representing the cities of St. Louis Park and Golden Valley. It is a non-profit organization originally founded in 2011 to promote St. Louis Park tourism. It expanded to include Golden Valley in 2017, and just introduced its new name of Westopolis this year.
