The Minnesota State Fair is great for many reasons. I mean, the atmosphere is electrifying, the food is suburb and the events are lively, but what's even better is the fact that the State Fair is so generous (though they can afford to be with the amount of revenue they bring in each year).

Starting this year, the Minnesota State Fair is introducing the Beginning Exhibitor Livestock Learning Experience (BELLE) Grant. This program will award monetary grants and provide peer mentors to 15 livestock exhibitors who are participating in the Fair for the first time. This grant is funded by the Minnesota State Fair Foundation.

The Grant will gift $500 to eleven large-animal exhibitors entering beef or dairy cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, goats, or llamas, and $250 to four small animal exhibitors entering rabbits and poultry.

The funds will hopefully offset costs, such as traveling, lodging, and show supplies, which accompanying participation in the Fair.

To apply for the BELLE Grant, you must be a Minnesotan resident between the ages of 10 and 18. The Fair is also looking for peer mentors to guide the grant residents throughout the year.

The application for both the BELLE Grant and peer-to-peer mentorship program is open through April 30.
