It’s a right of spring in Minnesota almost as storied as the Twins home opener: the various displays of ‘hockey hair’ at the Minnesota State Boys Hockey Tournament.

The annual tournament, put on by the Minnesota State High School League, got underway last Wednesday, March 8th and runs through Saturday, March 11th at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

And while the various hockey games played in route to a state title are certainly exciting (even though there aren’t any teams from southeast Minnesota competing in the tournament again this year), the ‘hockey hair’ on display generates almost as much attention as the games do.

In fact, Minnesota’s fondness for those classic hockey hair-do’s is so great that an entire video is usually produced at the end of the tournament that spotlights the awesome hockey hair. But we don’t have to wait until Saturday, though. While the tournament is still in progress, there have already been some great ‘hockey hair’ sightings.
