Minnesota’s Team Nickname in This Professional League Will Blow You Away
I'm not sure how I'm going to find time in my schedule, but I'd like to go see these guys play! Minnesota has a team in the ten-year old American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL). While I believe they start their season in the spring, our team is named after one of the most dreaded parts of winters here. They are the Minnesota Wind Chill. And they are coming off a very successful season!
After watching a few video clips while researching this piece, it looks like it would be a blast to attend. I've played ultimate in some church youth group settings and had a great time. (Though I'm about as good as when you put a basketball or a baseball bat in my hands. They won't be calling me out of the stands.)
But if you think you've got the stuff, they are accepting submissions to try out the the 'Chill.'
A news release from the AUDL states, "Ultimate is a fast, flowing and highly athletic low-contact sport that is played by advancing a disc down a field to score by passing into the end zone. Players cannot run with the disc, and play continues until one team scores."
The Wind Chill just completed their eighth season and compiled a 10-2 record to reach the playoffs. Their first season was 2013. The league did not have a season in 2020.
And for that sports fan in your life who has every Vikings, Twins, Wild and Timberwolves item that they can find a use for, check out the Chill's merchandise page for a unique gift idea.
