The Minnesota Department of Transportation is making it even easier to see what's happening on the highways and interstates here in southeast Minnesota.

MnDOT's 511 Traveler Information System is already a handy way to check traffic and road conditions across all of Minnesota, including views from various cameras right here in our neck of the woods.

And now, they're adding even more cameras-- more than a dozen across the state-- and that also includes some new additions in our neck of the woods. (Which is cool to see, because, often it's the Twin Cities Metro that seems to get all the latest toys, right?)

According to THIS MnDOT release, crews have already added several new 511 cameras "along Interstate-35 between Owatonna and Ellendale in Steele County and on Interstate-90 near the Dresbach Bridge west of La Crosse, Wis.," the release said.

But wait-- there's more. MnDOT is also planning on adding two more 511 cameras to Highway-52, north of Rochester. "Additional cameras will also be installed along Highway 52 between Oronoco and Zumbrota this summer," the release noted.

If you haven't yet, (I use it all the time!) you can check out the 511 Traveler Information System HERE. You can also download the free 511 app for your phone too.
