More Lane Closures Coming Friday On Highway 52 In Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) just announced more lane closures and a traffic shift set to start later this week, part of that major Highway-52 road construction project north of Rochester.
If you've driven along Highway-52 north of Rochester since this spring, you know there are more than just a couple of construction projects underway. They're all part of MnDOT's three-year plan that will replace several bridges and intersections as well as rebuild major sections of that busy highway.
Earlier this week, MnDOT has provided us a mid-summer construction progress report, as they called it, on their Facebook page. One of the major projects has been the construction of a new overpass at the Highway-57 intersection near Hader. And MnDOT just announced a new update and new change that's set to start later this week.
And, crews have made enough progress that starting Friday (weather permitting, of course) traffic will shift from the southbound lanes to the new, northbound lanes, including the new overpass over Highway 57/Goodhue Co. Rd. 8.
This will means that traffic will change with northbound traffic staying in the northbound lanes between Goodhue County 50 Blvd and Goodhue County 1 Blvd. Southbound traffic will move to the northbound lanes all the way from Goodhue County 1 Blvd to Goodhue County 50 Blvd.
MnDOT also noted that traffic shift will impact the following intersections, as well:
- Southbound exits to reach Goodhue County roads 8 and 9 require traffic to exit at Goodhue Co. Rd. 1 and follow the signed detour routes.
- Northbound traffic wanting to reach county roads 8 and 9 can exit at Co. Rd. 9 and follow the signed detour.
- Hwy 52 traffic wanting to reach Hwy 57 may exit at Goodhue County 50 Blvd. There is no direct access to Hwy 57 from Hwy 52 during construction and Hwy 57 cannot directly access Hwy 52.
