Don't put away those shovels just yet-- we might need them to clear more snow that could be falling across southeast Minnesota later this weekend.

It wasn't bad enough that Mother Nature decided to break all kinds of weather records with that snowfall we got here in Minnesota earlier this week. And, yeah, Rochester International Airport set a new record on October 20th when 2.1 inches of the white stuff fell, while the 7.9 inches that fell at the Minneapolis airport to set a new record as well.

But now, Old Man Winter might be making a comeback across parts of southeast Minnesota this weekend-- even though winter itself doesn't officially start for another two more months.

According to the latest forecast for our neck of the woods from the National Weather Service office over in La Crosse, there's an 80% chance we'll see more flakes falling on Sunday. "Snow, mainly after 8 am..." their forecast says, while not giving us an exact amount. For that, though, we can turn to the Weather Channel, where the forecast for Sunday says "Snow likely, accumulating 1 to 3 inches..." (However, their chance for seeing any precipitation is only 60%, for what it's worth.)

Why, it's almost like all this snow in October here in Minnesota is part of some concerted effort to get us to stop talking about the Halloween Blizzard of 1991-- which dumped 2+ feet of snow on parts of the Bold North-- and is pretty much all we can talk about whenever somebody mentions snow in the fall.

But perhaps former ABC-6 meteorologist Cindy Morgan said it best on her forecast Facebook page when discussing the possibility of seeing more snow this weekend:
