Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Brownsville man’s murder trial is getting underway this week at the Freeborn County Courthouse.

27-year-old David Easter is charged with 2nd degree murder for a deadly shooting that occurred last August at Myre Big Island State Park near Albert Lea.

Easter has claimed he was acting in self-defense and believed his family was in danger after another man approached him with a baseball bat. In countering that claim, prosecutors point out 23-year-old Spencer Brown was found dead from a gunshot wound to his head inside his car with the windows up, the transmission in reverse and his foot on the brake. Investigators also say the fatal shot was fired from outside the vehicle through a closed window.
