Merry Kiss Cam was definitely one of the most popular filmed in and around the Duluth area, and it became a big hit on Hulu after it premiered on Thanksgiving day of 2022.

Other Movies Filmed In Northern Minnesota Recently

Another popular movie that filmed in the Duluth area was Rescuing Christmas, which premiered last summer, despite the fact that it was a holiday movie. (Christmas romcoms are welcome year round in my world!)

It all seemingly started with another holiday love story called The Christmas Listing, which was filmed in Isanti, less than two hours from Duluth. Now THAT was a good movie. Ha!

What New Movie Is Being Filmed In Chisholm, Minnesota?

Yes, another new movie is being filmed in Chisholm and this one really got my attention! It is called Small Town Girl. They are filming the movie over eighteen days in the area starting on June 9th and rolling through July 2nd.

The film is a mystery movie and seems to be right up my alley with a true crime twist! The synopsis of the film is as follows:

In a small Midwestern town in 1973, the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl unravels buried secrets, forcing an unlikely local to confront disturbing truths and implicate two suspects, only for an unexpected twist to shock the community years later.

Now, you have a chance to be in the film. While all the speaking roles have been cast, the film's production is looking for more roles to be filled ahead of filming - and it could be you!

Casting Call For Mystery Movie Being Filmed In Chisholm

As of now, the film is looking for actors ages eight and up. There is no experience necessary and you don't have to be from the Iron Range to take part.

They are looking for background performers for diner / audience scenes and those with a special talent to take part in a talent show segment. According to the casting, they are looking for fun talents like hula hooping, juggling and the like.

You can throw your hat in the ring now online. The early deadline is May 15th but they will accept rolling applications through early June. This could be your big break! I can't wait to see the movie.
