Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Six more motorists were added to the Rochester Area 100 mph club in July. The citations below include motorists cited in Olmsted County Court for allegedly traveling 100 mph or faster, listed in descending order.

20-year-old John Roberts of Pine Island was cited for speeding and careless driving after he was clocked at 130 mph at midnight on July 24. He was stopped by an Olmsted County Sheriff’s Deputy in the 10,000 block of Olmsted County Rd. 5 Northwest. According to the citation, the posted speed limit in that area is 55 mph.

An Olmsted County Sheriff’s Deputy caught 18-year-old Noah Flores traveling 111 mph in the 2,000 block of Marion Rd. Southeast. The Dodge Center man was also cited for reckless driving for reaching triple digits in the 55 mph zone shortly before 10 a.m. on July 23

50-year-old Scott Thorpe was cited for traveling 105 mph in a 55 mph zone at 5:08 p.m. on July 7. An Olmsted County Sheriff’s Deputy clocked the Rochester man in the area of East Circle Dr. and Silver Creek Rd. Northeast. The deputy also cited Thorpe with careless driving. The citation indicates Thorpe was on a motorcycle.

A Chatfield man accelerated his way into the 100 mph club in front of a State Trooper on July 5. The citation says the trooper clocked 24-year-old Jacob Erpleding at 102 mph in a 65 mph zone. Erpleding was traveling south on Hwy. 52 south of the Olmsted County Rd. 1 bridge shortly after 2 p.m. The citation says the trooper was traveling in the opposite direction, but reversed course when his back radar came back with the 102 mph reading. The citation notes indicate Erpelding was slowed by a semi-truck and traffic when the trooper arrived.

An Arizona man tried to claim ignorance when he was stopped for traveling 102 mph on Hwy. 52 shortly after 3 p.m. on July 7. A State Trooper also cited 20-year-old Grant Immanuel-Survival for reckless driving during a traffic stop on the 2nd St. Southwest ramp in Rochester. Immanuel-Survival was weaving throughout traffic at the high rate of speed, according to the citation. The Trooper notes Immanuel-Survival claimed he was not from the area despite living in the med city for two years to attend school.

Finally Mahad Abdullahi “blew off” a State Trooper’s doors when he joined the Rochester Area 100 mph club on July 18. The trooper was southbound on Hwy. 52 in the exit lane for Hwy. 14 West when he clocked Abdullahi at 101 mph in the 60 mph zone. The trooper says Abdullahi was breaking for the Civic Center Dr. Northwest ramp at 9:10 p.m. Abdullahi was also cited for careless driving.

Law enforcement has spent the summer cracking down on dangerous driving habits after 2021 was reported to be the deadliest year on Minnesota’s roads since 2007. 162 of the 497 traffic deaths in Minnesota last year were speed related, according to the state Office of Traffic Safety.
