Last month was the warmest October in Rochester in nearly 15 years.

The monthly weather statistics summary put together by the National Weather Service in La Crosse says the average temperature at the Rochester Airport last month was 53.4 degrees, which was 5.5 degrees warmer than normal. The average high temperature was nearly 5 degrees warmer than normal at 62.7 degrees, while the average low temperature was 44.1 degrees, which was 6.1 degrees above normal.

The warmest day of the month was the first day of October when the high temperature reached 83 degrees. The coldest reading was 28 degrees on October 23.

The average temperature last month was the 10th warmest on record for October. It was also the warmest since 2007, which is listed as the fifth warmest October in Rochester with an average temperature of 54.4 degrees.

The month was also dry in the Rochester area with just 1.63 inches of precipitation recorded at the city’s airport. The total was 8-tenths an inch below normal and made it the driest October since 2006.
