Many Rochester bikers are going to love this!

We know there are plenty of bikers in the area too! Think about it... how often are you riding side by side with a bicyclist on North Broadway? It's almost a daily occurrence for me. On my way home, I see plenty of bikes around West Riverview Parkway in NW Rochester. In fact, as of 2016, 12.4 percent of Americans cycled on a regular basis. That number is increasing too. Especially when it comes to young adults.

Remember those orange bikes that were available to share before? Nice Ride MN was testing the program out in Rochester after seeing success in the Cities. That happened in the summer of 2016. Their program ended in our area earlier this year due to an "organizational structure change with Nice Ride MN."

Now, it's back! However, it's only for a short time. So you'll want to hurry to take advantage of it! A press release explains, "Since that time, a group of local stakeholders – including representatives from the City of Rochester, Destination Medical Center, Experience Rochester, Olmsted County Public Health, Mayo Clinic, and Rochester Public Library convened to determine how to launch a bike share program in Rochester utilizing the bikes." Their decision: make 40 orange bikes available to the public now through Wednesday.

You can find an orange bike at a location closet to you! Choose between Peace Plaza –  1st Avenue SW and 1st Street SW, the Rochester Public Library –  101 2nd St SE or City Hall – Parks and Recreation.

I love that this program makes riding bikes in our area easier. Would you use it with your family?
