Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - There are now four candidates vying to succeed Randy Staver as the Rochester City Council President.

Vangie Castro is the latest candidate to file for the at-large position and will face-off against Brooke Carlson, Kathleen Harrington, and Greg Munson in the August 11th primary election.

There was also another filing today for the 4th Ward City Council seat now held by Mark Bilderback. PJ Calkins joins Abel Brito and Kelly Rae Kirkpatrick in seeking the position.

A race has also been set up for a seat on the Olmsted County Board, where until today, all of the incumbents had yet to be challenged. Wale Elegbede has filed to run against District 7 Commissioner Mark Thein.

A well known local media personality has filed as a candidate for a position in the Minnesota legislature representing Rochester. Randy Brock is running as a Democrat against incumbent Republican State Representative Nels Pierson in House District 26B. Republican State Senator Carla Nelson is being challenged by Democrat Aleta Borrud, while Democrat Sara Flick has filed for the State Senate seat currently held by Republican David Senjem.

The filing period for the November general election ends Tuesday afternoon.
