Hurry, Not Much Time Left To Change the Look of Downtown Rochester
Downtown Rochester has something I just love; art in unexpected places. On the big signal control boxes...
Thru the windows of Mayo Clinic's Gonda Building...
As part of Rochester's Flood Control Project...
Honoring heroes...
And during the pandemic, the Jersey Barriers in front of businesses. And the call has gone out for more artists to bring their vision to 100 of the concrete barriers.
Oooh! I Am/Know an Artist, What Do I Have to Do?
According to a recent press release, Threshold Arts, with DMC and the City of Rochester, are looking to commission 10 artists to create murals on 10 concrete barriers to be used throughout Downtown Rochester for the Spring and Summer of this year.
If your proposal is accepted, you'll be putting your mural on 10 of the barricades, each 32 inches tall and 10 feet wide. The barriers will be moved around a lot, so it'd be better if you create a standalone piece on each barrier. Of course, you can also do a series with your 10 barricades.

Do You Have To Bring These Things to Your Studio/Garage/Living Room?
Again, according to the press release,
Artists will create their murals on location at a City bus garage. Access and scheduling will be coordinated with Threshold Arts staff while the facility is open for business; after-hours arrangements can be made if needed.
You'll have five days to do that voodoo that you do so well, though bad weather n'such could win you additional time for outdoor painting.
