Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Seasonal factors helped push the Rochester area’s unemployment rate higher last month but it remained the lowest in the region.

The latest statistics from the state show the jobless rate for Olmsted County climbed half a percentage point from November. The 2.6-percent rate was up a tenth of a point when compared to December 2018.

Every county across southeastern Minnesota experienced an increase in unemployment in December. The highest rate was 4-percent in Wabasha County, while the largest increase was reported by Fillmore County where the unemployment rate shot up 1.3-percentage points from November and hit 3.8-percent.
