Friday’s Snow Results in Rochester’s Third Highest Season Total
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - March is picking up where February left off.
More snow fell across SE Minnesota Friday with totals generally in the 2 - 4-inch range.
Rochester’s official total was 3.1 inches. That raised the seasonal total to 76.9 inches, making it the 3rd snowiest on record. The highest seasonal total is 85.1 inches (1996-97) and the 2nd snowiest was the 77.5 inches recorded in the 1950-51 season. Rochester's February's 40-inch total was the most ever for the month and the 2nd most of any month on record.
Rochester is expected to be snow-free the next several days but temperatures are going to remain well below average. Overnight temperatures are expected through Wednesday morning and highs will barely get above zero Sunday and Monday. Normal high temps this time of the year are around 35 and lows around 20 degrees.
Bitterly cold wind chill readings are expected from Sunday into Monday morning.
