Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been handed a 5-year prison sentence for trafficking heroin.

43-year-old Sean Alexander recently entered into a plea agreement and admitted to a third-degree drug charge in exchange for the dismissal of two other felony charges stemming from his arrest in February following a traffic stop on I-90 near Dover. The officers performing the stop already had a search warrant for the vehicle and its occupants.

During a search at the Olmsted County Jail, Alexander was caught in possession of more than 24 grams of suspected heroin or fentanyl. Court records also indicate a search of his home in southwest Rochester and a second vehicle led to the seizure of another 39 grams of heroin, along with some marijuana, marijuana wax, and items associated with the sale of illegal drugs.

Court records show Alexander was convicted of a first-degree drug sales charge in Hennepin County in 2015. In that case, he was sentenced to 4-years in prison.
