The Most Frustrating Intersections You’ll Find in Rochester, Minnesota
There are few things more frustrating than getting stuck in traffic waiting for the light to change from red to green at a busy Rochester intersection. If you've ever sat there, watching the seconds tick away while wondering why traffic can't just move, you've probably been at one of these intersections!
How Many Roads and Traffic Lights Are in Rochester, Minnesota?
Seeing as Rochester is the third-largest city in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, it's not surprising that we have a lot of roads. In fact, according to estimates from the city, there are 535 total miles in the Rochester road network, including 467 miles of city roads, 45 miles of county roads, and 23 miles of state roads.
And on those roads, there are a lot of busy intersections where traffic is controlled by one of those familiar traffic lights. Data from the city show that there are between 155 and 160 intersections where traffic lights have been installed in Minnesota's Med City.

What Makes These Rochester Intersections So Frustrating for Drivers?
Now, I freely admit that I'm not the most patient driver, especially if I'm running late (which seems to happen a lot!) But some of those 160 intersections in Rochester seem to be poorly engineered and often appear to hamper the smooth flow of traffic, instead of keeping it moving, which can be annoying, am I right?

And, I also admit that, since I live in northwest Rochester and work downtown, I'm really only concentrating on these intersections in the northwest and southwest parts of town. I'm sure there are many other equally annoying intersections in northeast and southeast Rochester as well.
Of course, Rochester isn't alone in its annoying intersections; there are many others across Minnesota, too, I'm guessing. But these are the ones that often seem to get me fuming while behind the wheel. Check them out below!
