Rochester Shooting Investigation Leads to Discovery of Fentanyl
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester woman is facing felony drug charges after police reported discovering fentanyl in her home while executing a search warrant related to a shooting investigation.
48-year-old Maria Slawson made her first appearance in Olmsted County Court Friday. The criminal complaint indicates police found over 19 grams of fentanyl in a safe while searching her home in the 1900 block of Spruce Meadow Dr. Southeast.
The complaint says officers also discovered three handguns, over $3,500 in cash and a scale inside of the safe. Slawson admitted the guns, scale and cash were hers but denied knowing there was fentanyl inside of the safe.
The complaint says the scale and large amount of cash indicate an intent to sell. Slawson was charged with one count of second-degree drug possession and a count of third-degree drug possession. The search warrant was one of two Rochester Police executed last Thursday as part of the investigation into the early June shooting.
