Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Rochester police are investigating two shooting incidents that happened over the weekend.

One of the cases involves a Rochester teenager who was treated for a gunshot wound to his left knee Sunday night.  A spokesman says it appears he shot himself.

Police were contacted by St. Mary’s around 7:30 p.m. and the 18-year-old told officers he was in the back seat of a car and handling a .22-caliber rifle when it discharged. There were three friends in the car but they were not hurt.

The other incident happened at a home in the North Park neighborhood Friday.

Two officers were breaking up a large underage party at a residence in the 3000 block of Birmingham Lane NW around 11:30 p.m. Friday night and were in the home when they heard shots fired outside. The officers went to check and found some shell casings but it wasn’t determined if anything had been hit.

An 18-year-old who lives at the home was ticketed for putting on the party. His parents were out of town. Police say there were 30 to 50 people at the party when officers arrived and it's believed most were high school students.
