Slick Driving Conditions Forecast For Rochester Area This Evening
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate across southeastern Minnesota this evening and tonight because of a storm system that is forecast to dump 8 inches or more of snow in parts of northern Minnesota.
Those areas are under a winter storm warning through Monday afternoon, while winter weather advisories have been posted across the southern half of the state. The advisory affecting this region takes effect at 6 PM and runs through 6 PM on Monday.
The National Weather Service is predicting mixed precipitation will develop this evening, starting with snow and later becoming mixed with freezing drizzle through late tonight. 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation is possible, along with up to a tenth of an inch of ice.
Gusty winds as high as 40 miles per hour are also forecast, which will add to the hazards created by the slippery driving condition.
Another round of snow is expected on Tuesday. The National Weather Service is currently forecasting another 1 to 3 inches of accumulation.
