Southern Minnesota ‘Farm’ Featured By The New York Times
One Southern Minnesota 'Farm' made the New York Times this week. Waseca's Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm was one of the pizza farms being featured in the Food section of the NYT. The article was entitled This Year's Crop: Pizza
"In parts of the Upper Midwest, the phrase “pizza farm” is as evocative of summer food as “juneberry pie,” “butter cow” and “rutabaga festival.”" is how the article starts off. To be entirely honest I didn't know what a pizza farm was until I stumbled upon Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm at an event held in Kilkenny earlier this year.

I think personally that to come up with a business idea like owners Emily Knutsen and Bill Burtz did in 2014, and to work hard at their craft, growing some of the ingredients they use for topping in their pizza's. And then on top of that being recognized by a large paper like the New York Times is pretty cool.
You can see that Emily and Bill are pretty excited by the coverage in Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm's post the other day.
With possible pepperoni and SPAM shortages looming, having comfort food like pizza might become a touch pricier. Get more information on events and other happenings featuring Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm here
