St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - St. Paul Police are looking for a so-called Porch Pirate who left a thank you note after stealing a package.

A Facebook post from the St. Paul PD says a woman, who had received a notice that a package had been delivered to her home on Wednesday discovered it was missing when she returned home late in the afternoon. She did find a handwritten note from the thief thanking her for providing the opportunity to steal her package. It was signed, “The new owner of your package.”

St. Paul Police did not identify what was in the package or its value but did offer some ideas for avoiding becoming a victim of a porch pirate.

1. Require a signature for delivery;

2. Have package delivered to a trusted neighbor;

3. Have your package delivered to your work address;

4. Have your package delivered to an Amazon locker;

5. Have packages delivered to a neighborhood store.
