Cloquet, MN (KROC AM News) - It turns out two people died in a traffic crash Tuesday in northeast Minnesota.

An SUV that was on I-35 near Cloquet left the freeway and ended up in the St. Louis River. The State Patrol identified the passenger who died as 78-year-old Barbara Kimber of Carlton. The State Patrol has now identified the driver as 80-year-old Steven Kimber of Carlton, who also died at the scene.

Since that fatal crash, there have been at least two more deadly wrecks in Minnesota, both in the northern part of the state.

One happened around noon Wednesday in Cass County near Remer. The State Patrol says an SUV crossed the centerline and collided with a car. The driver of the SUV was identified as 36-year-old Matthew Turner of Pine River. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car was 77-year-old Harold Cook of Emily. He was taken to a Duluth hospital where he died.

The other deadly crash occurred around 5:30 pm Wednesday in rural Aitkin County. The State Patrol says a pickup truck “drifted off the road” and struck several trees. The driver was identified as 56-year-old Brian Glasbrenner of Brooklyn Park. He died at the scene.
