Fair manager Scott Kozelka says, "We're bringing in, not one, but two, Nashville acts this year, national acts...We're bringing a little bit different genre to the grandstand on Wednesday night. We getting some great vibes, some great support."
"Nashville recording duo, they were up in the top five for duos for the CMA Awards this past year. We're bringing in Maddie and Tae."
Kozelka went on, "Then we get into Friday. I'm very excited. I think we might have hit a 'Home Run,'" playing off Nichols's hit song from 2021. "We're bringing in Joe Nichols, seven number one hits. Just released an album this past month. We're excited. Joe is excited. He's coming to the Steele County Free Fair on Friday night, August 19. And we're going to have a party."
Nichols has reached the top of the charts with "Brokenheartsville," "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off," "Gimme That Girl," "Sunny and 75," and "Yeah." His first radio hit was "The Impossible" in 2002 which reached No. 3. In 2021 he had a hit with "Home Run." Visit Nichol's website. Mason Dixon Line will open for Nichols.
Maddie & Tae had a breakout Platinum-selling smash with "Girls in a Country Song" in 2013. They also hit No. 1 with "Die From a Broken Heart." Find out more about the duo on their website.
"I get excited when I'm driving in my car (and) hear either Joe or Maddie and Tae. It's exciting to say, these guys are going to be playing in our grandstand this year."
Kozelka says Hairball is back by popular demand to perform Thursday, August 18 at the grandstand. Tickets for that show are also available starting Friday morning on the fair's website.
Kozelka is counting down the days to the 2022 fair, "Last year we brought back the fun in 2021...Our theme this year is to celebrate the Red, White, and Blue in 2022." The Steele County Free Fair runs August 16 - 21
The Steele County Fair brought in county music star Craig Morgan for the 2021 fair, but thunderstorms rolled in at showtime and they were forced to cancel. But the show was a popular addition to the grandstand lineup. Kozelka joked, "We didn't get one off last year. So we thought we should get two this year."
