WWE SummerSlam Drops a Huge Surprise on One SE MN School
When stadium events finish up, let's be real, they typically leave behind a mountain of trash, a whole lot of traffic and, of course, plenty of memories.
But, WWE SummerSlam just left behind something so much cooler, and it’s heading straight into a local classroom.
Instead of just packing up and heading to the next city, WWE partnered with Minnesota Sports and Events, Kids In Need Foundation, Blaze Credit Union, and Mall of America to run a statewide school supply drive.

By the time SummerSlam weekend was over, the campaign had brought in $62,500 in cash and supplies, enough to pack 250 boxes of classroom essentials for schools across the state.
And right here in Southeast Minnesota, an elementary school in Austin was one of just 12 schools statewide to receive the special delivery.

Blaze Credit Union kicked things off back in July with a $10,000 donation. From there, local fans were encouraged to jump in, and everyone understood the assignment. Even WWE Superstars Natalya and Chad Gable dropped by to make one final drive for donations.
And now, those boxes are making their way into classrooms across Minnesota.
“Teachers should be able to focus on helping students learn and thrive instead of whether their classrooms have the basic supplies they need,” - Rashelle Oxborough of Kids In Need Foundation.
Sumner Elementary in Austin is just one of the schools on a short list stretching from Minneapolis and St. Paul to Duluth, Moorhead and right here in Southeast Minnesota, getting some extra classroom supplies to start the school year thanks to the SummerSlam supply drive.
Pretty cool, right?
