‘Supply Chain Issues’ Are Now Even Affecting Snowmen in Minnesota?

Many aspects of our lives have been impacted by the pandemic, and now even our ability to make a snowman here in Minnesota this winter is apparently affected.
Wait, what?!? If you're like me, you're wondering just how something like making a snowman is affected by continuing supply chain issues brought about by the pandemic, right?
Well, as it turns out only ONE specific snowman (that I know of) is being affected. And it's a big one: a proposed 120-foot tall snowman that was going to be constructed up in Duluth for this year's Bentleyville Tour of Lights which happens to open for the 2021 season on Saturday, November 20th at Bayfront Festival Park (about 3 hours and 20 minutes north of Rochester.)
The reason those dreaded 'supply chain issues' brought about by the pandemic have affected this snowman is because it was going to be made of iron and lit up with thousands of Christmas lights. Fox-21 in Duluth says building the iron-clad snowman was going to be a joint effort between several businesses and the Duluth ironworkers 512.

But, supply chain issues have sent iron prices skyrocketing, as well as making other raw materials tougher to procure in time to build the snowman for this year's Bentleyville. So they made the decision to cancel the snowman for this year.
However, all is not lost, though: The story says organizers are hoping to debut the new 120-foot snowman at Bentleyville next year, in 2022. So, it's not canceled-- just postponed. But it does mark the first time even a SNOWMAN has been affected by the pandemic, right?
While Bentleyville's Tour of Lights looks amazing, if you don't want to drive all the way to Duluth, keep scrolling to check out a festival closer to Rochester that features over 6 million lights!
