It's that time of the year in the Northland when bears are emerging from hibernation and they're looking for food wherever they can find it, even in your yard.
Bear encounters have been on the increase this summer in Minnesota and the DNR has just issued a few tips on how to make sure it doesn't happen to you.
As recently as June 30th, bears were spotted in Nerstand-Big Woods State Park. According to the DNR Bear Spotter map, the two bears and lone cub were spotted shortly before noon on Tuesday, June 30th.
