I've seen instances like this happening in our neighborhood before, but this time, it's personal: Yes, someone tossed a full bag of dog poop in our garbage container -- after the garbage had been picked up, but before we got home to move it back from the curb Thursday. The horror!

Now, I've written about this issue before, but then, it was a little different. I've seen a few dog-walkers in the neighborhood put a full bag of poo in a neighbor's garbage can while it was at the curb. But that was before their garbage was picked up.

This time, though, someone decided they didn't want to carry their dog's handiwork with them, and just tossed their full baggie into our trash can. But, it was after our trash had already been picked up Thursday. So now, we've got a smelly bag of poo stinking up our trash can for the next week.

Now, I'm not unsympathetic to the plight of dog walkers. It's not fun to have to carry a baggie full of poo with you on the remainder of your walk. We have a dog, Chance, who we often take on walks in our neighborhood. I dutifully carry the requisite poop bags with me to clean up after Chance if he does his business. And while I've often thought it would be handy on Thursdays, the garbage pick-up day in our neighborhood, to just toss a baggie full of Chance's poo the closest trash container at the curb, I've never done it-- especially at a trash container where the trash had already been picked up for the week.

Nobody likes to carry a full bag of dog poo with them for the remainder of their walk. And, in this case, the baggie isn't too big-- it must have come from a smaller dog-- so it shouldn't be all that much of a problem. But, it's the principle of the thing. And, come on, man-- it's YOUR dog, not mine. Do the responsible thing, will ya?
