The Best Place For Thanksgiving Is An Hour Away From Rochester
Heading over the river and through the woods to the best place in the country for Thanksgiving won't take you too long this year, according to this new survey.
That's because, according to the number-crunchers over at personal finance website, WalletHub, out of the 100 largest cities in the United States, the Best Place For Thanksgiving this year is right here in Minnesota-- and is only about an hour away from Rochester.
That's right, WalletHub says our own state capital of Saint Paul is the Best Place To Go For Thanksgiving this year. Now, when I think of Thanksgiving, I usually think of getting together with family, right? So, the 'place' we usually head is either up to the Twin Cities to be with my wife's family or my brother and his family, or back to central Wisconsin where my mom and sister still live. We don't necessarily try to find a 'place' to go, like you might do when you're looking to plan a vacation.
So just how did WalletHub come up with their Thanksgiving rankings? Well, there was a specific method to their madness. "We compared the 100 largest U.S. cities based on 20 key metrics. Our data set ranges from the cost of Thanksgiving dinner and share of delayed flights to volunteer opportunities per capita and forecasted precipitation," the site said.
And when you crunch all those numbers, viola, Minnesota's own Saint Paul came in first on the list! I'm guessing it must be Minnesota's penchant for making some amazing green bean hot dish at Thanksgiving, am I right? Coming in right behind Saint Paul was Scottsdale, Arizona; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Orlando, Florida; and Denver, Colorado. Minneapolis cracked the list, too, but down at #14.
