We first bid adieu to Brian Dozier last week at the MLB trading deadline to the Dodgers, and that angered many fans of the Minnesota Twins. Many saw Dozier rise up through the Twins farm system and put together some magical seasons and awesome defensive plays. Now another Minnesota sports franchise, Minnesota United, has traded away a fan favorite to another California team.

According to Megan Ryan at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the United traded longtime star striker Christian Ramirez to MLS expansion team Los Angeles FC in a Monday evening deal that could net Minnesota about a $1 million.

Ramirez, was the Loons’ leading scorer in 2017 and has been with the club since 2014 in the North American Soccer League. Ramirez was also a fan favorite, earning the nickname Superman.

Ramirez finished with 14 goals in his MLS debut last year. Rumors have been circling about Ramirez’s fate for the past several weeks after the United signed new designated player Angelo Rodriguez, who plays the same position as Ramirez.
