University of Minnesota-Rochester Expects Enrollment Growth
Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - The head of the University of Minnesota-Rochester briefed the U’s Board of Regents Friday on where things are now and where they are expected to be in a few years.
UMR Chancellor Lori Carrell told the board many of her students are literally guaranteed a job when they graduate - right next door. She said Mayo Clinic helps support a nearly 100 percent job placement rate for Bachelor of Science in Health Professions graduates.
She said UMR’s exclusive focus on health sciences education is not only distinct within the U of M system, it’s unlike any other four-year university in Minnesota or any other “institution in the country.”
Carrell expects enrollment to grow from the current 932 students to 1,000 or more by 2025.
She added, “The current enrollment growth will necessitate post-pandemic faculty hiring to sustain educational quality and continued enrollment growth will require a reimagined facilities expansion plan. We anticipate even stronger interest in health careers post-pandemic.”
Her presentation was made the same day the U of M announced students will return to all campuses this fall.
