UNDATED - The central Minnesota driver who caused a stir with their specialized license plates told the Department of Public Safety that is was the name of his band.

The "FMUSLMS" license plates were issued at the deputy registrar's office in Foley in June of last year. The Department of Public Safety released a copy of the license plate application today (Wednesday).

The driver also listed two other choices "PETALOL" and "8LUGTHG".

The name and address of the application had been blacked out by state officials. However, the applicant's zip code is listed as a Foley address. The plates were registered to a 1987 vehicle.

A DPS spokesman issued an apology this week saying the plates should have never been issued.
