When Was the Last Time We Had A Snow Day In Rochester?

This morning when we announced Glenville-Emmons Public Schools were closed it got me wondering when was the last time we spent the morning doing School Delays and Cancelations? Get ready, it's like stepping into a time warp!

February 18, 2020 was the last time we announced school closings and delays. It was a good long list of mostly two-hour delays, too (see it here), though no Rochester Public and Private and no Austin, Minnesota. But, again, just delays.

To find the last time we had a schools are CLOSED snow day we have to go back to February 13, 2020 (Austin and a bunch of others closed, but many, like Stewartville were just two hours late). 

The last time Rochester Public Schools closed due to snow was...are you ready for this? January 17, 2020!  Almost one year ago RPS closed and so did just about every other school in SE Minnesota. Most communities announced winter emergency rules, and people were calling 911 to get road reports.

Seriously...people do that and so very much shouldn't. Check our app to find the road reports. 

There are some school closing announcements for tomorrow (check here regularly for the latest school delay and cancelation updates, though, honestly, it'll never be as big as a year ago...sigh. I love snow days...they're fun on the radio).

• Byron Public Schools – Primary closing at 12:35 PM; Middle/High School closing-1:00 pm, PK closing at 3:00 pm.
• Grand Meadow Public Schools -Closing at 1:00 PM SACC open until 2:00 PM
• North Iowa Community Schools - Closing at 1:00 PM
• Southland Public Schools - Closing at 1:00 PM
• ZED ALC/South Campus – Closing at 1:00 PM
