I am a total and complete novice when it comes to knitting. It's never too late to try something new, so I thought I would learn!

My stepmother loves to knit. It relaxes her at the end of a long day. I figured I'd learn too so that we'd have a few more things in common! The problem is, I live in Rochester, and she lives in Pittsburgh - so I couldn't learn from her.

I had to find another way to score lessons, and I found them at Kelley's Quality Sewing in NW Rochester.

They regularly host two-hour classes at their store, and most of them welcome beginners like me. I chose to sit in on a knitting class this week to accomplish my goal, and I picked it up fast!

If you don't know how to get started, check out these photos.

HOW TO KNIT

I learned early on that you're almost making a "cradle" with your hands (like my instructor Heralda did) when you start a new row of knitting. It all starts with a slipknot.

I already got started on a scarf I plan on wearing this winter! Lord knows it'll creep up on us again soon!

Wanna learn a new craft? Kelley's is definitely the spot to go! They were more than patient with me, and I couldn't be more grateful. Check out their upcoming classes here! Having someone by my side while I learned ensured I didn't pick up bad habits!

See you guys with a new craft in June!
