One creamery in Wisconsin is stepping up and helping out its neighbors in need with a very cool cooler.

My home state of Wisconsin is known as America's Dairyland because it leads the nation in the production of milk and cheese. So I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that a creamery and dairy in Wisconsin is making national headlines this week for a kind act its doing during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The good folks over at the Sassy Cow Creamery, located in Columbus, Wisconsin (a new miles northeast of Madison) have opened what they're calling a 'Kindness Cooler,' and it's stocked with milk that available for free for anyone who needs it.

According to this CNN story, "My three daughters got the idea after being home from school for so long," James Baerwolf, co-owner of Sassy Cow Creamery told CNN in the story. "They had a lot of time on their hands and were looking for ways to help out the community and that's what they came up with."

Baerwolf, who owns Sassy Cow with his brother, Robert, said demand for their free milk has been high so far. In fact, they've been giving away over 400 gallons of milk a day! The story notes that they'll continue to offer free milk in the 'Kindness Cooler' outside their store throughout the duration of our outbreak.

I really feel for our farmers both here in Minnesota and over in Wisconsin during this crisis. They've been dealing with low commodity prices for a while now, thanks to the previous trade wars-- and now dairy farmers are dealing with way-lower demand for milk because schools, bars and restaurants have all been shut down. This is a great way to help others in need, with product that might otherwise just have been dumped out anyway.
