Country’s Finest Hit the Stage and Hang Out at 2017 CMT Music Awards [Pictures]
It was a Who's Who of contemporary country music at the 2017 CMT Music Awards in downtown Nashville on Wednesday night (June 7).
Lauren Alaina, Granger Smith, Nashville star and show host Charles Esten, Dustin Lynch, Kellie Pickler, Sam Hunt, Chris Young and more stars were among those who turned out on the red carpet in Music City Wednesday.
Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Charles Kelley hit the stage to pay musical tribute to Gregg Allman in the show’s opening. Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett performed during the broadcast, which also featured special performances from Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum with Earth, Wind and Fire and Florida Georgia Line with the Chainsmokers.
Urban, Kelsea Ballerini and Rhett led the nominations in 2017 with four each. Urban was up for Video, Male Video and Collaborative Video of the Year (with Underwood), as well as Social Superstar, and he and Rhett competed in the categories of Video, Male Video and Social Superstar. Rhett was also up for CMT Performance of the Year along with Nick Jonas for their collaboration on “Close” from CMT Crossroads. Alaina, Underwood, FGL, Aldean and Dierks Bentley were some the artists who earned multiple awards nods at the 2017 CMT Music Awards.
