3 Felonies Facing Faribault Man Stemming From Heroin OD
A 37-year-old Faribault man is currently in the Rice County Jail and is facing 3 felonies in connection with a heroin overdose Thursday. Edward Climer Jr. allegedly sold fentanyl-laced heroin to the overdose victim in a city park.
On Thursday, January 10th, Faribault police were called to District One hospital for a possible overdose victim who had arrived by a private vehicle. The victim was not breathing, non-responsive, and still had a needle located in his arm, upon arrival at the hospital.
Hospital personnel were able to administer naloxone which resulted in reviving the overdose victim. After becoming responsive to questions the victim told law enforcement that the heroin he overdosed on was provided to him by Climer.
Climer has been charged with 3 felonies providing drugs that cause great bodily harm, 2nd-degree drug sale in a park and 3rd-degree drug sale. Bail has been set at $100k with conditions and Climer's initial court appearance has been scheduled for January 18th.
A second overdose was also reported on Thursday. That overdose turned out to be fatal as 21-year-old Devin Herrin was found deceased in his home late Thursday afternoon. Herrin's death is the third since June involving overdoses.
