I headed back to see my mom for Mother's Day this weekend, and to do some spring cleaning. And, it's clear that, yes, I did grow up in central Wisconsin!

Having lived here in Minnesota now for nearly 7 years, the slight cultural differences between our the Land of 10,000 Lakes and my home state of Wisconsin become more apparent each time I head back home.

Since my dad passed away last fall, we've been trying to clean things out of my mom's house back home in Rothschild, just outside of Wausau. We got a big 'ol 40-yard dumpster to get rid of as much stuff as we could this past weekend. As we're finding out, Dad was an incredible pack rat-- he never through anything away. Ever. He was basically a Bermuda Triangle when it came to stuff-- he brought it into the house, but nothing ever left, ever since we moved into the house back in 1976.

So, as we were going through the various boxes in the garage and basement, we found some distinct items from my childhood that prove I grew up in Wisconsin-- with various nods to my German heritage. Take a look...
