My husband and I love to fish! We're excited to be getting our Minnesota fishing licenses soon! We decided to look up some good spots to fish right here in southeast Minnesota over the weekend, while we prepared. Here's what we found...
1. Chester Woods
Located right here in Olmsted County, a trip to this lake can easily be done within a day. Another great part about it is the handicapped accessible pier! Chester Woods explains, "Chester Lake has been stocked with largemouth bass, panfish, and channel catfish."
2. Lake Washington
Looking for walleye especially? This spot is just northeast of Mankato, and rated one of the best.
3. Lake Pepin
You can get to Lake City within an hour from Rochester. A totally easy trip that you can do within a day, and there's a variety of fish to catch on Lake Pepin! This lake is known to harbor largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, and sauger.
4. Elysian Lake
Located just in Waseca County, you can find Bigmouth Buffalo, Black Bullhead, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch.
5. Silver Lake
Located right here at home, this is the easiest fishing trip you can make more so any other lake on this list. Bonus: restrooms aren't far away! Silver Lake has a population of Bluegill, black crappie, yellow perch, and largemouth bass.
