The group is called Trees for Troops, and they're "Delivering the spirit of Christmas to military families – one Christmas Tree at a time." They're the ones that needed help, and many years ago, some kids stepped up. And they've been stepping up for 14 years!

Last Monday, in New Hampshire, 5th-grade students worked to make sure over 600 Christmas trees would make it to service members and their families around the USA, and around the world.

What did the kids do? According to WMUR9, the students raised money, did cold calling, wrote all the tags that go on the trees, and of course, prepped 'em and loaded ‘em up, too.

14 years ago, a kid named Sam Petree was one of the 5th graders. Eventually, he joined the Marines and had a tree delivered to him. In the video, you can hear him saying, "I know how it feels to be away from your family and your loved ones during the holidays. It's a really tough season…"

By the Numbers

  • Over 208,720 Christmas Trees delivered to military families and troops in all branches of the military at more than 65 bases in the U.S. and overseas.
  • Last year, Trees for Troops delivered 17,720 farm-grown Christmas Trees donated by roughly 450 Christmas Tree growers, retailers, and their customers in 25 states.
