A 6-year-old in Rochester just got the parade of his dreams AND as a result, ended up on John Krasinski's Some Good News Facebook page!

Last Thursday, all of the students and staff at St. Francis of Assisi School showed up at 10:30 am for a grand parade honoring one of their Kindergarteners, Nathan Herber.  The big celebration was to honor Nathan from a safe distance because, after 2.5 years, he is finishing up his last cancer treatment!

Some Good News with John Krasinski Featured 6-Year-Old in Rochester, Minnesota

At the young age of 4, Nathan Herber, was diagnosed with Stage 4 T-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was a preschooler at St. Francis of Assisi School in Rochester, Minnesota at the time of his diagnosis. 2.5 years later, he is finishing up his last cancer treatment!

According to Nathan's dad, Andy Herber, “Nathan was diagnosed with Stage 4 T-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in September 2018, just two weeks after his 4th birthday. He had just started preschool when he was diagnosed and needed to stop school due to intense treatment protocols. Treatment is 2.5 years, and unfortunately Nathan developed numerous life threatening complications along the way including over six months’ worth of hospital stays."

After learning at home this past school year due to COVID, Nathan, his twin brother, and their older brother will be back in the classroom at St. Francis of Assisi School for the 2021-2022.  Although they weren't physically in school this past year, the entire school has been supporting Nathan and as you can tell from the big parade, they are celebrating with him too.

“The St. Francis of Assisi School community has stayed very connected and continues to support and pray for this family. We look forward to being reunited in the fall,”  Barb Plenge, principal of St. Francis of Assisi School.

If I was in town last week, I would have brought my airhorn and blared that loudly for you to hear, Nathan!  Huge congrats to you!  I know how exciting it is to hear the news that your cancer treatments are done. ❤️ Great big, virtual hug to you, Nathan, and your entire family!
