St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The daily COVID-19 update from the Minnesota Department of Health lists five Goodhue County residents among the most recent coronavirus-related deaths in the state.

Another Olmsted County resident in their late 70s, a Houston County resident in their late 90s, and a person living in Winona County who was in their late 90s were also among the 54 COVID-19 deaths reported today. The five Goodhue County residents who died ranged in age from their late 60s to their late 80s.

The new cases and testing totals reported today are from December 31st. Almost 2550 new infections were reported statewide, including 107 new cases in Olmsted County. The testing total was over 36,600 and the daily testing positivity rate was about 6.9 percent.

The COVID-19 hospitalization statistics are not updated on the weekends.
