A Chance to Check Out Rochester’s Chateau Theatre

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Today marks the end of this year’s Thursdays Downtown. As part of the event, the group that is now running the Chateau Theatre is inviting the public to tour the historic building from 11:00 - 8:00 PM.

Last week, the Rochester City Council approved a 5-year operating agreement with Exhibits Development Group to oversee the Chateau until a long-range plan is finalized for the building. EDG founder Amy Noble Seitz says her staff will be available today to meet with the community.

EDG plans to organize public events, performances and exhibits 360 days a year. It will announce its first exhibit for the Chateau today.

EDG says its goal is to generate over 120,000 visits per year from the attractions it has planned for the Chateau. Its agreement calls for the city to receive 10-percent of the profits from the operation, which has been estimated at around $50,000 annually.
