Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A special event is scheduled this week at a Rochester park.

The city’s East Park was selected over two others for a major upgrade of its basketball courts.

It’s part of a new initiative by the Minnesota Timberwolves called “New Era. New Courts” the NBA team plans to conduct each year. Parks in Rochester, Moorhead and the Twin Cities were selected this year and residents voted for one of three sites in each city.

Volunteers and representatives of US Bank and the organization called Rebuilding Together Twin Cities will work at East Park Tuesday and Wednesday. A special unveiling of the refurbished basketball courts is scheduled Thursday. East Park is located at 1738 East Center St, near the federal prison.
